Opportunity to work directly with the Founder and Managing Directors of the firm and gain experience in the pursuit, analysis, and completion of food and agribusiness investments.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Participate in the presentation of data to influence the decision-making process of the firm’s leadership and investors.
- Conduct extensive financial modeling, including sensitivity analysis, to support potential investment opportunities.
- Provide initial investment review and screening of prospective investment opportunities for the firm as well as tracking of the firm’s investment pipeline.
- Maintain internal database of potential investments.
- Provide ongoing monitoring of assets with the firm’s portfolios including review of monthly operating results and maintaining project pro forma. These activities may include joining conference calls, site visits, industry conferences, and vendor meetings.
- Establish and maintain relationship with industry, trade and professional organizations to enhance visibility of the firm and its portfolio companies in the market place.
- Manage project bookkeeping and day-to-day relationships with consultants, accountants, and lawyers.
- Support the firm’s investment team with any activity that will make them more productive, which may include: compiling meeting notes, updating contact records after business trips, or pulling together expense reports.
- Travel Requirement zero to fifteen days a month
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, Finance, Accounting or Economics with related work experience.
- Strong analytical skills including the ability to perform advanced calculations, prepare reports, and compile data.
- Computer proficiency, i.e. extensive knowledge/experience creating Excel spreadsheets.
- Experience investing in private or public companies even if at small levels in a personal account.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a willingness to work on diverse teams.
- Ability to multi-task, work on multiple projects simultaneously, track responsibilities and meet deadlines.
- Detail oriented, responsible, and conscientious. An inquiring mind and an interest in learning.
- Ability to use common sense working in the role of a principal in a high integrity, high standard, professional, entrepreneurial environment.
- Experience in the agriculture industry is an added bonus; we are particularly interested in candidates with a background in animal husbandry.
