* $170k–250k + bonus + profit share + excellent benefits

Jennifer Fukumae with Robert Half’s Finance & Accounting practice is partnering with a leading Venture Capital firm in Palo Alto seeking an Assistant Controller to join their lean and collaborative team. This role will play a key part in transforming the corporate finance and accounting function, driving process improvements, and implementing scalable systems.

Key Responsibilities:

* Oversee day-to-day financial operations including general ledger, accounts payable, financial reporting, and FP& A (budgeting, forecasting, P&L management)
* Assist with global consolidated budgeting, forecasting updates, and variance analysis
* Manage expense allocations across entities and help automate allocation processes
* Lead the selection and implementation of new Accounting and FP& A systems; enhance efficiency on AP/AR processes (e.g., Bill.com)
* Partner cross-functionally with a commercial mindset—balancing budgets, priorities, and business needs

Requirements:

* CPA or equivalent certification preferred
* 5–10+ years of accounting experience, ideally within venture capital, private equity, or alternative investments
* Strong understanding of GAAP, full cycle accounting, and management reporting
* Proven experience improving systems, streamlining operations, and managing outsourced functions
* Ability to “manage up” and work effectively with senior stakeholders
* Familiarity with fund finance or management company accounting is a major plus
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills
