Nicola Private Equity and Venture Capital Funds, at a combined AUM of approximately $1.3 billion, are evergreen funds with a mandate to maximise long-term returns for our clients, by investing a diversified portfolio of direct co-investments, fund investments and secondaries across North America and internationally.

Purpose of the Role

This role is primarily responsible for investing and managing capital for Nicola Venture Capital LP, with added responsibilities to invest and manage Nicola Private Equity LP. You will primarily support your colleagues on the investment team on diligence of new opportunities, as well as participate in ongoing monitoring of existing investments. As part of this role, you will contribute to the build-out of a direct and co-investment strategy across Venture Capital and Growth Equity.

Core Responsibilities:

* Assist in screening and analysis of new investment opportunities across funds, secondaries, and direct investments
* Help build and execute a direct investment strategy for Venture Capital and growth equity
* Assess the attractiveness of investment opportunities through market and industry research, financial modeling, and valuation analyses
* Conduct thematic and sector research to identify attractive investment opportunities and proactively source opportunities through conversations with GP partners, industry conferences and events, and management conversations
* Prepare investment committee materials
* Develop and manage relationships with our fund partners, provide ongoing monitoring of existing investments and preparation of regular reporting documents
* Assist in portfolio management functions including fund reporting, fund-level cashflow projections, risk-exposure analysis, and marketing material
* Project work and other duties as required
* Actively engaging in ongoing learning and development to continuously improve skills and knowledge

Experience & Qualifications:

* Undergraduate degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance
* Financial Industry designation considered an asset (CFA, CPA, CA, or CBV)
* 3-7 years of relevant experience in private equity, venture capital, investment banking, or other relevant industries
* Strong accounting, valuation, and financial modeling skills
* Experience conducting due diligence as part of M&A or growth equity transactions
