A prominent venture capital firm is seeking a Fund Accounting Manager or Sr. Manager to join its growing team in its Menlo Park office. This role will support the management of the firm’s venture funds and related business operations, reporting to the Controller with occasional projects for the Vice President of Finance.
Responsibilities:
* Maintain fund and general partner ledgers, including expense accruals, intercompany transactions, investment activity, and LP allocations
* Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements
* Support audit and tax processes by liaising with the external firms, researching accounting matters, and managing internal workflows
* Monitor fund cash positions
* Manage and record capital calls and distributions
* Review fund administrator reports (capital activity, financial statements, LP reporting)
* Collaborate with Investor Relations to address limited partner inquiries
Requirements:
* 5+ years of experience in public accounting and/or fund accounting, ideally with exposure to venture capital, private equity, or other investment management environments
* Background in auditing or working with investment partnerships is highly valued
* Deep understanding of investment partnership accounting, including capital calls, distributions, allocations, carried interest, and financial statement preparation
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to build and interpret complex financial models, perform data analysis, and automate workflows using formulas, pivot tables, and lookups
* Familiarity with fund accounting platforms such as Allvue or Microsoft Dynamics NAV is a significant plus
* Experience with other fund administration or ERP systems is also advantageous
* Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and a strong desire for growth, with the initiative to take on new challenges and expand skillsets beyond core responsibilities
* Exceptional time management and organizational skills, with a proven ability to prioritize effectively, meet tight deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
