Our client, a prestigious investment management and hedge fund/private equity firm in Chicago, is seeking to fill an Investment Analyst Job in Chicago. The ideal candidate will have the primary focus on conducting investment operations-related responsibilities pertaining to trade execution, settlement and underlying hedge fund documentation reviews. Additional responsibilities include ensuring that the decisions of the appropriate governing bodies and committees are implemented appropriately. This position will report to the Vice President, Finance.
Associate, Investment Operations Responsibilities include:
- Conduct day-to-day Investment Operations responsibilities for the Company funds, with a focus on the area of trade execution and settlement which includes ensuring that the decisions of Investment Committee and Operations Committee are implemented appropriately.
- Coordinate the implementation of subscribing to, redeeming from and transferring interests among underlying hedge funds and implementing other investment-related decisions.
- Assist with fund launches and fund restructurings by analyzing the fund’s governing documents, abstracting the key provisions of the documentation into databases, coordinating with any third party service providers, and working with underlying hedge funds to execute transactions as necessary.
- Interface directly with external clients by preparing and reviewing client reports and communications and implementing customized, client requirements.
- Aid in the drafting and negotiation of side letters with external hedge fund managers.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with internal trading policies and procedures.
- Review and analyze governing documentation for underlying hedge fund investments in order to understand the terms and conditions of the fund investment in the areas of subscribing to the underlying fund, redeeming from the underlying fund and understanding and executing other investment-related decisions pertaining to the fund investments.
- Abstract the key provisions of underlying hedge fund documentation into databases in order to aid in investment decision making.
- Liaise with external hedge fund managers and administrators regarding investment decision making, including preparing required documentation and responding to inquiries from the external hedge fund managers and administrators.
- Compile, draft and disseminate trade instructions for hedge fund investments, including subscription agreements, redemption notices, transfer agreements, letters of direction and share class elections.
- Monitor and ensure proper data integrity and analysis of hedge fund liquidity.
- Liaise with internal departments, including Investments, Legal, Fund Finance and Client Services to coordinate Investment Operations functions.
- Create and update process tracking logs and systems as required..
- Design and implement control techniques including liaison with systems staff to develop and implement automated solutions.
- Participate in and take the lead on special and recurring projects and report results to management.
- Attend meetings and participate on conference calls as required and provide updates to the team/management.
- Routinely handle confidential information and apply strict confidentiality and sensitivity in the dissemination of this information.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- BA Degree or BS Degree with outstanding academic credentials.
- Minimum 3 – 6 years business experience in the financial industry or paralegal experience.
- Prior focus in the asset management segment of the financial services industry is preferable, and particularly in the fund of funds sub-segment.
- Strong attention to detail and concern for quality and accuracy of final product.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work in a fast paced, changing environment and to balance multiple concurrent projects.
- Excellent work ethic and high degree of professionalism and commitment to team and a goal-oriented environment.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with external clients.
- Superior organization, decision making and problem solving skills with the demonstrated initiative and ability to manage tasks and projects independently from start to finish
- Flexibility and adaptability to handle changing priorities pertaining to work flow.
- Proven ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Proficient in Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office Suite (including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint). Experience with SharePoint a plus.
- Highest degree of integrity and ability to maintain confidential information.
- Series licensing may be required.
