Our client is a highly regarded and successful private equity firm focused on investments in the energy sector in NYC. They are looking to onboard a dynamic Associate to lead their growing team.

Responsibilities:

The Associate, as part of the Capital Structure Advisory team within Corporate Finance, is an important part of deal origination efforts with senior bankers by performing the following:

  • Execution and origination of Strategic Capital advisory work, including but not limited to:
  • Capital structure analysis
  • Recommendation of different financing alternatives in the context of a corporate event or as a result of shift in market conditions
  • Idea generation for corporate clients to solve their corporate finance issues related to capital raising, management, and deployment
  • Responsible for financial modeling (including, but not limited to pro forma projections of standalone + target, LBO models, complex debt schedules and financial ratios) and preparation of client pitches and marketing presentations (using PowerPoint and Word) under the supervision of a Vice President/Managing Director
  • Liaising with investment banking product teams such as M&A, Syndicated Lending, Debt Capital Markets, Ratings Advisory and other Corporate Finance Teams internationally to the extent required
  • Training and supervision of analysts; various administrative duties, including reporting, benchmarking

Level of Complexity and Risk Involved:

The Associate will actively participate in the origination and execution of a number of diverse corporate finance projects, including complex financial analysis and modeling, the supervision, guidance and training of Analyst bankers, and interaction with other product areas.

Technical Skills:

  • Bachelor degree in related fields such as Business, Finance, Financial Engineering, Economics or in other highly technical fields and strong finance/capital market knowledge
  • MBA, Master’s Degree in Finance, or CFA is a plus
  • Investment banking training program is a plus
  • Experience in a corporate finance or capital market capacity is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of capital market, financial statement analysis and corporate finance preferred
  • Experience in building financial projection models of the three main financial statements (i.e. income statement, statement of cash flows, and balance sheet) preferred
  • Demonstrable experience in constructing, utilizing and interpreting comprehensive financial, financing and merger models, and valuation analyses using Excel considered advantageous
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Excel and PowerPoint,
