Westlawn is a private investment firm focused on long-term investment in the global oil and gas industry. We make majority and minority investments in producing and proven assets, as well as new technologies to improve production.

We’re looking to hire our first Private Equity Associate. The Associate will work on a lean deal team, and is responsible for assisting in identifying, evaluating, negotiating and executing investment opportunities across the energy value chain across North America.

The firm provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on investment experience across new platform and bolt-on acquisitions. The ideal candidate for this role is an operationally minded, strategy-oriented, finance professional with at least 2 years of energy investment banking or private equity experience.

Responsibilities:

* Identify, evaluate, negotiate, and execute investment opportunities focused primarily on the global energy value chain
* Assist with transaction execution, including negotiating with sellers, managing due diligence, and presenting to the investment committee
* Develop a wide variety of quantitative analyses, including DCF, LBO, operating models, comparable transaction, and accretion/dilution analysis
* Enhance portfolio company equity value by developing and reviewing business plans, analyzing capital expenditures, and performing financial analysis
* Monitor relevant transactions, capital market trends, company financial statements, industry, regulatory, and other economic information
* In conjunction with the M&A Operations team, work with portfolio companies on special projects designed to increase portfolio company valuations (i.e. design new KPIs or capital investment models)
* Assist in the evaluation of other forms of illiquid investments including middle market services businesses, venture capital, resources, and alternatives

Requirements:

* Strong investment experience, including at least 2 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, or another financial and valuation analysis function. Energy investment banking or private equity experience preferred
* Knowledge of all aspects of M&A transactions, including transaction management, financial and valuation analysis (LBO, DCF, Operating Models), documentation, due diligence, and negotiations
* Advanced deal execution and/or project management skills – ability to manage more than one transaction or initiative simultaneously
* Ability to collaborate with and coordinate a cross-functional team
* Ability to operate in an environment of rapidly changing priorities
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proven process management abilities
* Experience in upstream oil and gas acquisitions and divestitures and/or corporate mergers and acquisitions is a plus
