Operating globally, our client is focused on managing credit investments funds, including mezzanine, private debt, senior loans, high yield, and structured credit vehicles.
This is a newly created position, necessitated by the accelerated growth of investments in the U.S. In addition, there is a mandate to increase efficiencies in the financial management and reporting sectors of the U.S. operations in anticipation of raising additional pools of investment capital.
POSITION:
As the first financial professional devoted to the U.S. operations, the Vice President will be the focal point in administrating and overseeing all financial information for the firm’s private debt fund. In doing so, will provide financial, operational and administrative support to help manage the business.
As this is a newly created position, the Vice President must be able to function independently. It is important that the Vice President understands and appreciates that this is a very special situation, only suited for an individual who is interested in creating an operation, not just maintaining one.
The Vice President will be an integral part of the U.S. team. This position provides an excellent opportunity for a finance professional to focus on growing a credit investment business.
Specific responsibilities and priorities will initially include, but are not limited to the following:
- Fund accounting in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
- Coordinate audits with outside accountants and coordinate tax filings.
- Manage and prepare IRR models, capital drawdowns, capital distributions (done on a quarterly basis), carry calculations, and return analyses.
- Respond to LP requests. Assist in the presentations and preparation to investors, and ensure that the information presented is correct and accurate.
- Prepare capital account statements and quarterly management fee billings.
- Give support and assistance to deal teams in the process of fund raising.
- In addition, to the preparation of recurring management reports, expand these reports to include areas of the business function that need additional review and attention.
- Coordinate with the Fund Administrator in IRR modeling, waterfall and hurdle calculations.
- Maintain relationships with bankers and manage the fund’s credit facility, along with the cash management that is directly fund related.
- Assist with the annual meetings.
- Involvement in diverse special projects that span the spectrum of the firm’s investment activities at the direction of senior management.
EXPERIENCE:
- CPA a MUST with strong accounting skills.
- Must have experience in partnership accounting gained while working with a mezzanine or private equity fund, preferably in a private credit environment.
- Strong knowledge of fund accounting and reporting (gross net and carry calculations) and can navigate fund documents.
- Knowledgeable in IRR modeling, waterfall and hurdle calculations.
- Understand and knowledge of tax issues as they would pertain to the product areas.
- Strong knowledge of systems.
REQUIRED QUALITIES AND SUCCESS CRITERIA
- Must be more than an accountant, must be a business person with the mentality of a CFO who thinks strategically, and can be an asset throughout the management team.
- Must have a propensity to work independently. As this is a new position with limited support, reluctance to do the work yourself is a deal breaker.
- A desire to work in an environment that can be intense yet rewarding, as well as collegial.
- Detail oriented with strong documentation skills.
- Strong team player with a commitment to communicate with all members of the team.
COMPENSATION:
Flexible with a compensation package that includes a base salary and bonus. Compensation to be determined based on experience.
