Our client, a private equity investment management firm headquartered in Chicago is seeking a Senior Tax Accountant. This is an exciting opportunity in a growth company that offers work life balance and upward mobility.
Position Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Director Tax on the company’s tax compliance for all related entities. This includes (i) investment partnerships and funds, (ii) hedge funds, (iii) various subsidiaries of these funds including blocker corporations, (iv) a publicly traded BDC, (v) the general partner entities, and (vi) management companies. These entities are both US based and foreign.

- Work in a cross-functional environment and serve as a bridge between the accounting staff and the tax department, requiring strong communication and diplomacy
- Assist the Director of Tax in creating complete, accurate tax work paper packages for the outside tax firm that prepares tax returns and K-1’s and to prepare user friendly tax estimate reports for the company’s investors and owners.
- Outside of K-1’s, which are issued to investors by the end of March each year, there will also be other projects requiring attention throughout the year such as basis tracking, quarterly taxable income estimates, and quarterly management company taxable income estimates.
- Perform information reporting (1099’s, 1042’s, etc.) as well as FIN 48 analysis for those entities that undergo a financial statement audit.

Candidate Requirements
- BS in Accounting degree and a CPA certification required
- Strong existing tax knowledge of partnership taxation as well as US based and non US based investment vehicles
- 3-5 years of proven tax experience in the financial services industry, preferably experience working at a nationally recognized public accounting firm
- An understanding of the tax issues associated with debt investments is a plus
