About The Team
PSP Investments (“PSP”) is a leading global institutional investor, with c.C$300 billion in assets under management as of March 31, 2025, and a diversified portfolio across asset classes, geographies and sectors. We invest funds for the pension plans of the federal public service, the Canadian Forces, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the Reserve Force. Headquartered in Ottawa, PSP Investments has its principal business office in Montréal and offices in New York, London and Hong Kong.
PSP has meaningful presence in Asian private equity (current exposure of c.C$5 billion), having made commitments to several private equity funds and completed multiple direct/co-investments in the region, with robust investment activity expected going forward. This is truly a unique opportunity to join a dynamic regional office of a globally established investment firm.
We are seeking a Senior Manager to support the private equity team on all aspects of the private equity investment process and portfolio monitoring. The position is in our Hong Kong office (opened in 2019), as part of the Asia private equity team covering primary commitments to private equity funds as well as direct/co-investments across Asia. The selected candidate will gain exposure to high deal velocity/variety and a significant level of responsibility, providing an excellent learning opportunity. The Senior Manager will have an opportunity to apply their investment knowledge across a wide array of sectors and geographies, with a focus on India but also broader Asia regional coverage.
The team is focused on fostering a collaborative culture and an energetic working environment while paying attention to work-life balance. Of note, the selected candidate will have the opportunity to work with PSP’s other offices in Montreal and London, and potential to work with other asset classes.
Responsibilities:
Sourcing of direct/co-investments
* Build deal pipeline by nurturing relationships with PE firms/institutional investors/businesses and maintaining ongoing market awareness, regionally as well as in India
Leading preliminary analysis of potential investment opportunities
* Company and market research, financial and valuation analysis, meetings with prospective partners and advisors, industry expert interviews, etc.
Coordinating due diligence
* Lead and/or support the various due diligence workstreams on live transactions, helping to assess key investment merits and risks (including commercial, financial, tax, legal, structuring, ESG and other workstreams)
* Review of financial models, including business plan, valuation and LBO analysis
* Lead preparation and present investment recommendation memorandums and other internal/external materials
* Actively participate in the decision process of investment opportunities
Post-investment monitoring
* Lead post-investment monitoring activities and interact with portfolio companies’ management teams, potentially with a Board of Directors seat / observer role
* Underwrite/monitor primary fund investments, and build/maintain relationships with key existing and prospective GPs
What You’ll Need:
* Excellent academic credentials; business, economics or scientific degree is preferred, but other degrees will also be considered
* SFC Type 1 Licensed Representative Licence, or—if not currently licensed—pass the Paper 1 exam and fulfil all other licensing requirements within 12 weeks
* 8-10 years’ experience across private equity, investment banking (leverage finance/M&A) or management consulting, preferably majority of which was spent within India private equity buyout space
* In certain cases, we will consider less/more experienced profiles for extremely strong candidates / unique backgrounds
* Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with full proficiency in financial modelling (both operating and LBO)
* Solid understanding of corporate finance and key accounting principles
* Outstanding commercial judgment and critical thinking skills, with a creative approach to problem solving
* Proactive attitude and deep sense of ownership and initiative
* Good cultural fit: mature personality motivated to work in a fast-paced environment, contribute to the team and with “low ego” attitude
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate and present facts and ideas effectively both verbally and in writing
