Position Overview

Responsible for managing domestic and international tax compliance and reporting for StepStone Funds. This individual will help work closely with external tax return preparers to implement best practices for compliance and reporting.

Essential job functions:

Assist with the collection of underlying K-1s for FOF vehicles.
Assist with the preparation of tax estimates on an annual basis.
Compile and review tax data for federal and state tax returns for both partnerships and corporations.
Coordinate with financial reporting and Big Four tax advisors to ensure proper accounting of transactions.
Ensure proper and timely mailing of all paper filed federal and state tax returns.
Identify and review US withholding tax requirements relating to income allocations to foreign recipients including FDAP, ECI, etc.
Gather and analyze financial information from underlying Schedule K-1s and other tax documents.
Knowledge of informational filings, including Forms 926, 5471, 8621, 8865, 8886, etc.
Perform and review tax provisions for blocker corporations on a quarterly basis.
Preparation of tax filings related to FIRPTA/ECI withholding.
Review of FATCA and CRS analysis prepared by tax advisors for proper reporting in various foreign jurisdictions.
Respond to notices from federal, state and foreign taxing authorities.
Work with Investor Relations and Business Development to response to investors’ tax inquiries or ad-hoc requests.
Support Finance team & liaise with other business units, as needed.

Education/work experience requirements:

5-8 years of Big Four/private accounting experience in the tax asset management industry, with a concentration in FOF and Private Equity.
Excellent team player with a strong work ethic.
Strong computer skills, including an advanced knowledge of Excel, and a willingness to implement new systems and processes.
Must be highly organized, with an attention to detail especially in workpapers and tax filings.
Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong time management skills, able to prioritize accordingly and to follow through on commitments.
Minimum four-year degree. CPA or JD, a plus.
