The Firm:

Our Client is a multi-stage private equity and venture capital firm specializing in communications, media, and information technology (“CMT”) investments. The firm is sector focused, but largely stage agnostic, and has pursued opportunities ranging from seed funding to distressed asset purchases.

The Role:

The Associate will be a member of the Investment Team and supports the firm in all aspects of its investment process. Projects will include market research and analysis, screening of investment opportunities, financial modeling and analysis, due diligence, deal negotiation and documentation support. The Associate will have the opportunity to take on board observer roles with the firm’s portfolio companies.

Operations Rotation: Qualified and interested candidates will have the opportunity, but not the obligation, to spend up to six months working directly with a portfolio company in an operational role prior to joining the investment team.

The ideal candidate will have 2 to 4 years of full time work experience (as of Summer 2017), a developed knowledge base of the CMT market and some operating experience. However, the firm’s primary focus is on hiring highly analytical candidates with a demonstrated track record of success. A variety of backgrounds will be considered for the position but preference will be given to candidates with CMT experience in any of the following fields:

Investment banking or equity research
Strategy consulting
Product management, marketing or corporate development

Requirements
Given the dynamic nature of the investment process, the Associate is expected to be a resourceful self-starter with the ability to work effectively with both teams and independently, in an unstructured environment. The ideal candidate will have:

2-4 years of full time work experience (as of Summer 2017)
A developed knowledge base of the CMT market and some operating experience
Demonstrated, sophisticated, financial and / or operating modeling skills
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
The ability to request, organize and synthesize data in the course of deal executio
A developed sense of relevant industry and sector trends
An ability to come up to speed on new sectors quickly
The ability to develop rapport with firm management and outside companies
The ability to develop and articulate an investment thesis
The conviction to take a stand on whether or not to make an investment
