We are seeking a Senior Associate/Vice President for the equity strategy within our Public Markets Research Department. This person will join a team of six other investment professionals focused on Equities and a broader Research team of over thirty investment professionals. The Manager Research team works closely with other investment and operational professionals throughout GCM Grosvenor.

Professional Responsibilities:

The role will be involved in the following critical activities:

• Assume significant responsibility for the sourcing, review and evaluation of equity managers, and make recommendations relative to these activities.
• Perform investment due diligence on potential new investments with public markets equity managers and make written recommendations to the Public Markets Research Group and Investment Committee.
• Serve as either primary or back-up investment professional on the firm’s existing investments with equity focused hedge fund managers. Monitor existing relationships with managers and communicate any potential issues/changes to the team and Investment Committee.
• Communicate manager and strategy-related issues to the Public Markets Investment team, Investment Committee, and existing and prospective investors.
• Track, analyze and interpret trends in the equity markets.
• Mentor and train junior investment professionals.
• Perform special projects related to the equity strategy and/or hedge fund industry.

Desired Skills and Experience

The individual should have experience in finance and specific knowledge of the equities hedge fund universe. The ideal experience and critical competencies for the role include the following:

• Bachelor’s degree required. An advanced degree (MBA) and/or appropriate professional designation, such as a CFA preferred.
• 8+ years of experience with a proven track record of investment leadership and advancement in positions of increasing responsibility. Significant experience in hedge fund manager selection or monitoring of hedge fund investments required.
• Experience managing outside investment managers with a track record of holding the managers accountable for results.
• A proven ability to establish investment policy, objectives, procedures and performance goals.
• Ability to lead a team of mid-level and junior investment analysts.
• The self-confidence and ability to formulate well-reasoned and independent opinions, and to express such views into an intelligent written investment thesis.
• Broad-based investment and capital markets knowledge, as well as, in-depth experience in valuation analysis, due diligence and the investment process.
• Strong analytical skills with proven success in a role that provides due diligence, research and interpretation of market environment, opportunities and investment strategies.
• Demonstrated initiative and ability to work in a fast paced, changing environment.
• High degree of integrity and the ability to recognize the requirements of confidentiality with a strong concern for quality of final product and the ability to balance that concern with deadlines.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a cross functional team environment. Entrepreneurial approach to task management. Ability to take control and manage tasks independently to closure.
• Superior written and verbal communication skills.
• Collaborative individual who is a team player, self-starter, and independent thinker.
• Ability to travel.
