Global hedge fund. Assist the research team on desktop research across Asia on issues that may affect the hedge fund’s global investments. Prepare research materials across all sectors and potentially across the Asia region. Fluent in Chinese and English. 5 years work experience post graduation.

The position is to assist the research team on desktop research across Asiaon issues that may affect the hedge fund’s global investments.

THIS IS A MIDDLE OFFICE ROLE AND IS NOT DIRECTLY INVOLVED IN INVESTMENT DECISION MAKING

The candidate will be tasked on preparing research materials across all sectors and potentially across the Asia region with a particular emphasis on China. The split will likely be 60/40 – China/Regional

Key catalysts to research could include policy changes and macroeconomicstherefore the role could suit someone with an academic background in international and public affairs from a top tier global University (this is not however a pre-requisite).

The research will likely be 80% focused on specific companies/deals or themes related to companies/deals. The remainder would be more general.

Desired Skills and Experience

This role could fit someone from a number of different profiles.

They could come from an INVESTIGATIONS or DUE DILIGENCE or RESEARCH background.

  • The candidate must be a native speaker of Chinese and also have excellent written and spoken English as this language will be used for internal data presentation.
  • They will have around 5 years work experience post graduation .
  • The candidate will have their own network of personal data sources in the field and will be experienced in using these relationships as a source of intelligence and information.
  • The candidate will be working on multiple tasks at once including specific deal related research and more general analysis of trends and market developments.
  • They will have strong interpersonal skills good at relationship building and working in a team environment.
  • On occasion they may be tasked to prepare and attend research trips.
  • The candidate will have strong excel skills and will be highly quantitative.
