Linux Systems Team Lead

Job Summary

Hedge fund is seeking a System Engineering Team Lead. Participate in performance analysis, proactive troubleshooting, and capacity planning. Must have 10-12+ years of experience in the Linux space is required.

Responsibilities

* Support Linux systems on physical and virtual platforms globally
* Provide technical guidance to other engineers
* Ensure documentation products is well-structured and comprehensive
* Help identify opportunities to reduce risk
* Participate in performance analysis, proactive troubleshooting, and capacity planning
* Participate in a global on-call support rotation schedule
* Actively participate in outage incidents, and perform root-cause analysis

Qualifications

* Bachelor’s degree (in Computer Science, Math or Engineering), or equivalent work experience
* 10-12+ years of experience in the Linux space is required
* In-depth knowledge of Linux systems and distributions, specifically Red Hat/CentOS 6/7
* Troubleshooting low-level Linux functional and performance related problems
* Tuning Linux system and server hardware parameters for low latency and high performance
* HP ProLiant/Blade System and Dell PowerEdge hardware platforms and management tools
* Infrastructure management services (SSH, DNS, DHCP, NIS, Kerberos/GSSAPI, HTTP/HTTPS, Proxies, syslog-ng)
* Monitoring tools and plugin development (collectd, Nagios, SolarWinds, etc.)
* Automated Linux deployment and management tools (iPXE, Kickstart, Cobbler, YUM/RPM, etc.)
* Strong script/coding skills (two or more of: bash, Perl, python, ruby, C/C++, JavaScript)
* Strong source code management and collaboration skills (Git, GitHub, Gerrit)
* Network and cluster file systems (NFS, GPFS, etc.)
