Details

Spire Europe Limited seeks a Junior Data Centre Technician, to support day-to-day operations and resolve hardware issues in its Data Centres throughout Europe. The role will be based at Spire Europe’s main office in London and will report to the Technical Implementation Manager.

Spire Europe is an FCA-authorised firm based in central London. The firm engages in proprietary trading over exchanges, MTFs and other markets in Europe. Spire Europe is affiliated with Tower Research Capital LLC in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Rack and perform basic configuration on Linux, Networking and Windows hardware.
  • Perform server troubleshooting and diagnosis under direction from senior members of the team and System Administrators.
  • Work to resolve networking and service issues under supervision.
  • Travel to domestic and international data centres to install and repair equipment, sometimes at short notice.
  • Assist with asset tracking management.
  • Maintain documentation and inventory systems.

Skills / Qualifications

  • Understands modern data centre principles.
  • Working knowledge of Linux and Networking.
  • Good understanding of computing hardware and connectivity.
  • Comfortable installing rack mounted hardware.
  • Understands cabling principles and different connector types.
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills.
  • A valid passport and the ability to travel internationally.

Additionally, you should:

  • Be able to prioritise quickly and work on multiple high profile work items simultaneously.
  • Communicate openly and clearly.
  • Be flexible, especially regarding working hours as weekend and evening work is required.
  • Be conscientious and focused.
  • Have a valid driving licence.
  • Be able to lift 30kg comfortably.
