Hedge Fund, seeking Fund Controller. Must have 8+ years of accounting experience within the Asset Management space, plus experience working for big4/big10 with hedge activity clients.

My client is an up and coming hedge fund in San Francisco that specializes in a market neutral strategy that is looking to add a fund controller to their growing finance team. This individual will be responsible for the financial operations, reporting, and accounting for the fund’s entities.

Responsibilities

* Hands-on leadership to the accounting, operations, and financial reporting functions
* Responsible for review of monthly NAVs as prepared by Administrators
* Review of position recs, cash recs, daily NAVs estimates
* Prepare and maintain in-house investor allocations as independent check against Administrators’ work
* Act as primary contact to external auditors and lead an efficient audit process
* Act as primary contact to external tax consultants to prepare K1s and partnership returns
* Work with external service providers including legal counsel and compliance consultants for all regulatory/ compliance filings
* Prepare external investor reporting and coordinate with Administrators and investors on subsequent information requests
* Maintain relationships with all other service providers such as Prime Brokers, etc.
* Oversight of Management Company/Investment Advisor entity and affiliated Fintech entity. * At this level, responsibilities include local/state/federal regulatory filings, budgeting, cash flow planning and HR functions including payroll, insurance and benefits
* Work with Management Company & Fintech Entity auditors and tax accountants for annual audits and all forms of business and tax filings
* Supervise Senior Accountant of Management Companies (to be hired) for all accounting functions

Requirements

* 8+ years of accounting experience within the Asset Management space, plus experience working for big4/big10 with hedge activity clients.
* Plus: CPA/CFA, forecasting, financial projection
* Experience with hedge funds, fund administration (using SS& C), hedge fund compliance, fund accounting
* Strong technical knowledge of accounting particularly around topics inherent with venture-backed, fin-tech companies
* Knowledge of managing a Cap Table, option issuance/exercises
* Experience with Quickbooks, Xero, Carta or other accounting software
* Experience with crypto accounting is a plus
