A unique position has opened up that can offer the right person a chance be involved in a project at a top hedge fund in London.
The Software Development Team designs, builds, and maintains highly automated front-through back office trading systems.
The trading systems are based in Java. Back end technologies include SQL Server, JMS, and distributed caching technologies. Our tools and processes are designed to ensure software produced is of the highest quality and delivered to production safely and efficiently.
The development process is agile, highly collaborative, and focuses heavily on continuous improvement. We experiment frequently with new technologies, techniques and ways of working. We also attend conferences and engage directly with thought-leaders of various technical disciplines.
We are looking for a passionate Developer who seeks to apply their skills to business problems. The successful candidate will be involved in designing, writing, and supporting software covering the entire trading chain. Successful candidates will be those who are able to demonstrate the following:
Essential
- 1-5 years experience.
- Outstanding development skills. Java is preferable but all experience considered.
- Enthusiastic, self-motivated and conscientious.
- The ability to communicate clearly and concisely with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Evidence of continually learning and improving oneself.
- The ability work collaboratively, preferably through experience of pair-programming.
- Willingness to learn and work with alternative programming languages / technologies.
- An excellent academic record.
- Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom.
- Desirable.
- Financial domain knowledge.
- SQL knowledge.
- Grounding in Linux/Windows.
- Experience with all/any of TDD, BDD, continuous integration/deployment, agile practices, JUnit, cucumber, etc.
- Familiarity with widely used Java libraries (e.g., Guava, Spring DI, Spring MVC, JPA, Hazelcast, Joda, JAXB).
