Firm Background:

Federal Way Asset Management (FWAM) is an investment management firm offering both alternatives management, including investments in hedge funds and private equity funds, and fiduciary management to a limited number of clients. FWAM commenced operations on July 1, 2012 as the culmination of a spin-out of the asset management team from Weyerhaeuser Company. FWAM’s asset management solution is designed to cover key aspects of the investment process including governance consulting, strategy development, implementation, risk management, operational management and regulatory support. FWAM’s fee-paying assets under management are currently in excess of $5 billion.

Key Functions:

As a newly created position, the Investment Operations Analyst will report to the Director of Operations and will support the management in various roles including investment purchases and sales, cash movements, derivative transactions, operational diligence and other related operational investment decision support functions. As a member of the Operations team, this position will also participate in specialized projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Track and monitor the investment decisions made by the Investment Committee; work across internal teams to ensure the investment decisions are implemented appropriately.
  • Prepare client cash flow directives for all client transactions and manage any required coordination with third-party client trustees and fund administrators.
  • Maintain and monitor key investment terms.
  • Manage and provide necessary data to FWAM data warehouses.
  • Provide support for the day-to-day operational requirements relating to derivatives transactions, including margin calls, FX transactions, and trade resets.
  • Assist with client or auditor requests relating to operational due diligence and valuation support.
  • Perform other operations-related responsibilities and assist with projects that support investment-related decisions.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting or related field and will have two to four years of relevant work experience. Prior experience with alternative assets and/or hedge fund operations is preferable. The pursuit of the CFA designation is encouraged.

  • Strong attention to detail and concern for quality and accuracy of final product.
