Candover Investments, founded in 1980, is a London-based private equity firm focused on initiating and arranging large-scale buyouts and buy-ins.
Originally structured as an investment trust, Candover has invested in over 130 buyouts worth a total of over 45 billion Euros ($61.2 billion USD), and has raised total capital commitments of more than 8.7 billion Euros ($11.8 billion USD).
Candover is geographically diversified, with 45% of funds originating from the United States, 25% from the United Kingdom, 24% from continental Europe, and 6% from other areas around the world, and represented by regional offices in London, Paris, Madrid, and Milan.
The Candover strategy relies upon direct and proactive engagement with existing management of portfolio companies or with buy-in teams, using constructive advisement and equity stakes among participants as drivers for increasing investment values.
Candover investment deals generally range between 500 million and 5 billion Euros ($680 million to $6.8 billion USD), with amounts committed in any given transaction ranging between 150 million and 500 million Euros ($204.2 million to $680 million USD).
