The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF)

Firm Overview

The Russian Direct Investment Fund is a $10 billion fund set up by the Russian government to make equity investments in the Russian economy. RDIF Management Company is a 100% subsidiary of Vnesheconombank (VEB), Russia’s state development bank.

RDIF investments act as a catalyst for direct investment into Russia. For this purpose, RDIF invested $1.3 billion plus over $6 billion from international co-investment partners. Through long-term strategic partnerships, RDIF also attracted over $15 billion of foreign capital into the Russian economy.

RDIF co-invests up to 50% of the investment share with premier funds that have more than $1 billion of assets under management, or $1 billion market capitalization or turnover exceeding $1 billion and EBITDA exceeding $150mm.

In its investment process, RDIF’s investment size is $50 million to $500 million equity investment with maximum 50% of the company ownership. The investment is expected to exit in 5-7 years.
