Founded in 1988, EnCap Investments is a private equity firm to the independent sector of the U.S. oil & gas industry.

The firm has raised 18 institutional oil and gas investment funds, total around $21 billion of limited partner capital commitments. EnCap currently manages capital on behalf of more than 250 investors.

Since its inception, EnCap has invested almost $11.5 billion in more than 218 upstream oil & gas companies.

In 2008, EnCap Investments, L.P. and Flatrock Energy Advisors, LLC established EnCap Flatrock Midstream. It is a series of private equity funds to invest in the midstream sector. Encap Flatrock Midstream Fund I closed with institutional investor commitments totaling $791.6 million, Fund II with $1.75 billion and Fund III with $3 billion.
