Providence Equity Partners is a leading private equity firm, founded in 1989 in Providence, Rhode Island. Today it has 6 offices in 3 continents: Providence, New York, Los Angeles, London, Hong Kong and New Delhi.

Providence Equity focuses on media, communications, information and education investments. The firm has invested in more than 100 companies, operating in over 20 countries and has USD 23 billion of capital under management. Providence Equity targets equity investments of USD 150 million to USD 800 million.

Providence Equity is a founding member of the Private Equity Growth Capital Council (PEGCC). In May 2009, the firm adopted guidelines that incorporate environmental, health, safety, labor, governance and social issues into its investment decision.   • Some of past investments include Brooks Fiber Properties, Global Metro Networks, Language Line Services, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Recoletos Grupo de Comunicación, The Marks Group and VoiceStream Wireless.

On August 23, 2011, Providence Equity and George Little Management (GLM) announced that affiliates of Providence Equity will acquire GLM from Daily Mail and General Trust Plc. The transaction is approximately USD 173 million in cash.
