Fortress Investment Group LLC is a global investment firm, offering alternative and traditional investment products for institutional and private investors. As of December 2011, the firm has around USD 43.7 billion of assets under management. Founded in 1998, the company operates from its offices in Atlanta, Dallas, Frankfurt, London, Los Angeles, New Canaan, New York, Philadelphia, Rome, San Francisco, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo.
Fortress Investment Group focuses in four core businesses:
- Private Equity: Fortress has invested around USD 21 billion of equity capital in 17 private equity investment funds or vehicles. The investors are from pension funds, university endowments & foundations and other institutions. Geographically, the firm mainly invests in North America and Western Europe. In Private Equity business, Fortress has two segments: Private Equity Funds and Castles.
- Credit: Launched in 2002, Fortress’s Credit has more than 300 professionals in its team focusing on investing globally.
- Liquid Markets: Fortress’s Liquid Markets hedge fund business was launched in June 2002. There are four segments within the business: Fortress Macro Funds, Fortress Asia Macro Funds, Fortress Commodities Funds and Fortress Partners Funds.
- Traditional Asset Management: In April 2010 Fortress acquired Logan Circle Partners. Headquartered in Philadelphia, Logan Circle Partners is a fixed income asset manager.

- Media & Telecommunications: GateHouse Media, Inc. and Global Signal, Inc.
- Leisure: Intrawest and Penn National Gaming, Inc.
- Energy / Infrastructure: Kramer Junction, MS Hub and Simon Storage.
On Mar 13, 2012 Fortress Investment Group was awarded “Asia Firm of the Year” in the 2011 Private Equity Real Estate Global Awards.
